Two Children Die from Electrocution

by LakeExpo.com Staff

Two children from Ashland, Mo., died from electrocution while swimming near this dock. This incident, another fatality four days later, and a close call the week after has heightened awareness about dock electrical safety around the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Several adults were able to remove the children from the water and performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation before emergency responders arrived. Alexandra Anderson, 13, and her brother Brayden Anderson, 8, both of Ashland, Mo., were pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, "A preliminary investigation indicated an improperly grounded electrical circuit to the dock, which was not ground-fault protected, was a contributing factor in the deaths. An autopsy will be performed on each victim to determine the cause of death."

The investigation is being conducted by troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Marine Operations Division and the Division of Drug and Crime Control.
